Louisiana’s FUEL energy initiative funds first set of researchers looking into new technology

December 23, 2024 — Future Use of Energy in Louisiana, a statewide clean energy innovation initiative powered by federal and state funds, is awarding more than $400,000 to three sets of researchers as it begins funding its efforts to help reshape Louisiana’s energy sector.

The public-private partnership, known as FUEL, is led by LSU and received a National Science Foundation Engines grant in January that could provide up to $160 million over the next 10 years. If successful, those funds are expected to be matched by an additional $67.5 from Louisiana’s economic development agency.
