NCRI: The Operating Engine

Running a business isn’t just about revenue — it’s about understanding the engine that turns activity into profit.

The Operating Engine is a practical workshop presented by STartUP Northshore that helps entrepreneurs and small business owners understand how the key financial drivers of their business work together in one system. Rather than treating revenue, margins, customer acquisition, and retention as separate metrics, this session shows how they connect and influence profitability, scalability, and sustainability.

Participants gain insight into how funders and lenders evaluate business performance and how founders can use the same framework to make clearer, more confident decisions. Whether you are preparing for your first loan, refining a growth strategy, or trying to better understand what truly drives profit, The Operating Engine provides practical tools and clear structure that founders can apply immediately.

As part of the Northshore Capital Readiness Initiative (NCRI), an SSBCI Technical Assistance program with Louisiana Economic Development, this workshop strengthens core business fundamentals and supports readiness for capital conversations.
