Gulf Coast Defense Catalyst

This collaborative initiative marks a significant partnership between the U.S. Department of Navy and Greater New Orleans Development Foundation, creating a programmatic framework to bring startups, industry, and academia together to help solve the Navy’s most pressing technological challenges. Next steps include establishing a C5I – Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Intelligence – testbed in Lake Pontchartrain, in conjunction with a software living lab to build, test, and iterate these novel technologies.

Co-located with the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) at LSU New Orleans’ Research & Technology Park, Gulf Coast Defense Catalyst (GCDC) will foster innovation, enhance defense capabilities, support academic research, and drive economic growth across the Gulf Coast region.

    Rapidly develop, test, and deploy systems that leverage AI and quantum
  • Enhance Naval Capabilities:
    Improve autonomy and shipbuilding effectiveness through advanced technology development
