October 10, 2025 –Bollinger Shipyards will lead an international team to design and build six Arctic Security Cutters for the U.S. Coast Guard, following a White House announcement October 8 that marks a major expansion of America’s polar fleet.
President Donald Trump unveiled the award at an event in Washington, D.C., naming Bollinger as the prime contractor alongside partners Rauma Marine Constructions of Finland, Seaspan Shipyards of Canada, and Finland-based Aker Arctic Technology Inc. The group will adapt and build on the Multi-Purpose Icebreaker design already developed by Seaspan and Aker Arctic for allied Arctic operations.
