October 31, 2024 — Workers at the Syrah Technologies plant in Vidalia, Louisiana, hit a major milestone earlier this year, becoming the first facility outside of China to produce battery-grade graphite at commercial scale for electric vehicles.
Owned by an Australian mining company, Syrah brings in unprocessed material from its mine in Mozambique to the Port of New Orleans, where it’s loaded on trucks for delivery to its 13-acre facility on the banks of the Mississippi River.
